About Us

Sawtell Framing is a professional framing and canvas printing business on the Coffs Coast, which has been owned and operated by Ryan Webber since October 2006.

Initially framing from his garage on Sawtell Road, the business was then moved to First Avenue in Sawtell where Ryan combined his love of photography with the picture framing business – and the company then became known as Sawtell Framing & Beachscapes Gallery.

The business now operates from a spacious new industrial unit in the Toormina Industrial Estate on Hulberts Road, incorporating a reception area and gallery. See where we are.

Beach & Surf Photography

Ryan has lived in Sawtell since his family moved to the area when he was 14. Growing up right on the beach, his love for beach photography started after spending many days on the beach and surfing.

Taking up photography as a hobby in his teens, Ryan first camera was a Minolta SLR with motor drive attachment and an old 1100mm Russian made lens. He used the gear to take photos down the beach of his brothers and mates while they were out surfing. He also attended local surfing contests taking photos and selling them.

Ryan – who is a member of the Coffs Harbour Camera Club – is mostly self taught in photography. Although he learned most from experience and reading photography publications, Ryan has also attended photography workshops and he completed a college course in the UK based in the darkroom.

His work is becoming increasingly sought after and collected by locals and visitors who love the Coffs Coast. See his photographs, which are all for sale,  in our beachscapes photo gallery.

Picture Framing

Ryan is also passionate about picture framing and dedicates a lot of time to study and improve on framing techniques and employing technologies to provide the best possible product. As a member of the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), he makes sure that his work is done according to industry standards.

Supporting the Local Community

By continually building the business, Ryan aims to provide a reliable service to the local community and create local jobs as well.

Sawtell Framing also supports local sporting groups and charities such as Camp Quality, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Sawtell Tennis Club, Sawtell Boardriders and the Barney Miller Classic, which donates all money raised to support people crippled by injury. The surfing competition was named after Barney (David) Miller, the inaugural recipient in 1999.
